Juru Mission Ministries

Juru has recently become a fast growing development area under the Penang government. It is located between 2 important industrial areas, Bukit Tengah and Bukit Minyak respectively. Before independence, the Methodist Church has established education works at that area. According to certain records, the British Colonial Government established True Light School in
Juru, and later the Methodist Church was assigned to assist in the development work. Although the school is now partially subsidized by the government, the constitution of the school set that the chairman of the director board should be headed by pastor from Methodist Church. Later on, Bukit Mertajam Methodist Church also set up True Light Kindergarten, which is fully managed by Methodist Church, in the Juru Village. The kindergarten has been setup for more than 40 years, and the then pupils are now grandfathers and grandmothers.





While establishing the elementary education, the Christian teachers also bear the responsibility to spread the Gospel. In 1999, Kids Fun Club was started for the children as a ministry to spread the Gospel to the children.

Apart from that, the Church also modified one of the classrooms to become a small hall with air
conditioner, audio system and musical instrument. The Church also carried out a few evangelical meetings and Christmas celebration in the hall.

The pupils of the Kids Fun Club are from the pupils of the Kindergarten and their brothers and sisters. More importantly, 99% of them are from non-Christian families, which is a good place for spreading Gospel.



These little souls are loved by God. God would use these children to spread the Gospel into their family. At present, we are facing shortage of servants to the children.

From May of 2008 onwards, the Kids Fun Club is having free Tawkwondo class for the pupils every Saturday as below:

• 2：30pm-3:30pm - Kids Fun Club
• 3:30pm-4:30pm - Taekwondo class

Recently our church is handling the land title for the kindergarten which is in the village area. Until now, the land belongs to the State Government. In the past, there were outsiders applied for the land title but was rejected by the State Government as the authority has approved this land for kindergarten use by Methodist Church. In other words, if we apply for the land title, we will have the advantage. Moreover, Penang has a new government. This could be a good opportunity that God has granted us. Brothers and sisters, please intercede for this matter.

New Preaching Point
As mentioned above, the Juru are has been developed. Besides the industrial area, there are many housing and commercial areas being setup in Juru. Therefore, establishing a Preaching Point is not only for missionary and breaking through the work in Juru for years, but the Preaching Point could also serve as nurturing area for outstation Christians who work there. This will help the Christian to continue their church life while working in Juru area.

As we obtained the vision from God, we started to look for a suitable location around the area. Our plan is to rent a shop lot to start our Sunday Service. Thanks to the Lord's guiding where we have found a shop lot in front of Krico Supermarket in Juru. After the survey of pastor and a few deacons, they reckon the location is suitable and has decided to rent the 2000 over square feet shop lot through the EXCO meeting on 27 April 2007.

Now the church is approaching on rental agreement, and later to perform basic renovations and arrangement. Please stay tune and intercede!
